Most people think when buying a new laptop or desktop, whether to take HDD or SSD or SSHD. Moreover, there are many who do not really know, what is HDD or SSD or SSHD? On the other hand, what are the advantages and disadvantages or which will be better? So today, I will discuss these in detail
What is HDD (hard drive)?
Hard drive is a storage device that has long been used on desktops and laptops. HDD is a mechanical device, which means it has a moving bird. You may have heard that HDD speeds range from 5400rpm to 7200rpm.
In fact, the HDD has a plate inside the DVD that rotates at very high speeds. The higher the rpm, the faster it will rotate and transfer data. Now let us not know about the advantages and disadvantages of HDD (hard drive).
Advantages of HDD (hard drive)
Your costs will be lower.
You will get much larger capacity, such as 2 TB, 5 TB, 10 TB etc.
It is very easily available. Not that you have to go to a certain place to buy it. It can be found in any small market.
Look at these micro SD cards before buying memory.
Disadvantages of HDD (hard drive)
Its lifetime. Lifetime of HDD (hard drive) is one time. It usually has to be changed every 4-5 years. Of course, it depends on your usage. However, it can be used for 4-5 years. Then it can be damaged, it can be cut, it can fail.
It can be damaged by minor injuries. Suppose your laptop fell out of your hand or your portable HDD, (hard drive) fell down. In this case, it may be cut, failed and the data you have may be lost.
Since it is a mechanical device, no matter what data you access, it will move repeatedly. That is why it has a lot less speed; you can't work at too high a speed.
It uses more power. Since it is a mechanical device and has a moving bird inside, it requires a lot more power.
SSD - Solid State Drive
The full name of the SSD (Solid State Drive) means it is solid, meaning it has no moving birds. I.e. this storage is made this flash base storage with the help of flash like RAM.
Advantages of SSD (Solid State Drive)
Its speed is many times faster than a normal HDD (hard drive). You will get much better performance from it.
It is a sophisticated digital circuit system. So nothing will happen if it falls out of your hands. It will not be damaged by any slight injury.
SSD (Solid State Drive) uses much less power than HDD (Hard Drive).
The lifetime of SSD (Solid State Drive) is much longer than that of HDD (Hard Drive). Because there is no moving bird inside it.
Disadvantages of SSD (Solid State Drive)
SSD (Solid State Drive) costs much more than an HDD (Hard Drive).
The capacity of SSD (Solid State Drive) is much less; it will not get as much capacity as HDD (Hard Drive). Because it is a new technology, so it is not available in the market. You will not get 2 TB, 5 TB, 6 TB, 10 TB etc. like HDD (hard drive). You can take up to 256 GB, 512 GB or 1TB if you want. Therefore, the price is much higher.
So much for HDD and SSD, you may have heard another name or many may not have heard it is SSHD. Now the question is what is this SSHD again?
What is SSHD?
The full name of SSHD is (Solid State Hard Drive). If you want to get a new laptop now, you will see many of them have 1TB HDD written on them and come with 16 GB or 64 GB or 124 GB SSD.
The operating system you have here is installed on the SSD. As a result, when you turn on or restart the laptop, your web loads very quickly. Moreover, it installs all the normal software or programs on HDD.
HDD, SSD, or SSHD?
Speaking now, which one should I take? If I say from my little knowledge or the way I get a lot of good speed and performance, you can put an SSD of 256 GB, 512 or 1 TB on the laptop according to your ability.
Now it may seem that the capacity has become very low. For this you can make the 1 TB or 2TB HDD of your laptop USB portable.
Install whatever you need on the SSD, such as Windows Pack and software. Moreover, keep as many media files as you can, such as movie songs, etc. on a USB portable HDD.
This may be a little problem for the laptop. Because a separate device will grow. The problem is you cannot just sit there and watch a movie.
Moreover, you can do all the rest of the work since everything you need will be on the SSD. However, there will be no problem for desktop. Because you no longer carry the desktop around.
Lastly, if you want to get good performance from your laptop or desktop. Then plug in an SSD and make the HDD USB portable, the way it works well. You can also try to get much better speed and performance.
