The history of computer science dates back to the twenty century. It was long before the advent of modern computer science as a separate subject.
People were not aware more about computer and computer science in past days. Because technology was not that much developed.
The first idea about this found about a few hundred years ago. After inventions of various instruments, application of mathematical theories. Which made it an important branch of science. It laid the foundations of one of the largest industries in the world.
The Islamic world of the middle Ages was also advanced in science. Abu Raihan al-Biruni, a world-renowned Arab medieval educator and researcher. He studied astronomical instruments with mechanical gears. The Arabic astronomer Jabir ibn Afla made a device called the Turketam.
According to British science writer Simon Singh, Muslim mathematicians were also at the forefront of matters such as cryptography.
An example is the eminent Arab scholar al-Kindi. The Banu Musa Brotherhood in Baghdad worked on automated machines. Ismail al-Jazari succeeded in doing important work on automata.
Some of Al-Jazeera's most famous inventions, such as the ivory-clock, the fort-clock, etc., were like programmable analog computers. That are still astonishing today.
The abacus is considered to be the oldest computing device, first used in Sumerian or Mesopotamian civilization around 2600-2300 BC.
The abacus used in Sumerian civilization consisted of a series of columns by which the Sumerians expressed the values of different numbers.
11 Abacus was used in various ancient civilizations for mathematical calculations. Even in some parts of the world, the Abacus device is still used for accounting.
The first differential gear was applied to a south-facing chariot in about 1110 BC, in ancient China. This gear was later used in analog computers. A relatively modern version of the abacus was made in China around 200 BC for mathematical calculations.
